About
What this is, and who keeps it.
fastpitch.dev is an open reference for how competitive fastpitch softball works in the United States. It exists because the people who keep it went looking for the whole picture and could not find it in one place, so they started writing it down.
What it covers
Who runs the sport and where each body publishes its rulebook. How teams earn a place and how recruiting works. How the college game is built. The road to Team USA, the Olympics and the professional leagues. Who governs the game in every country. And dispatches, dated notes on what is changing.
How it is checked
Every claim carries a date. A rule is read at the body that publishes it, in the edition the page names, and the month it was checked is printed there. Press points to a primary source and is never the source. When something here is wrong or a link has broken, hello@fastpitch.dev reaches a person, and the fix gets a date too.
What it will not do
It does not rank clubs or programs, recommend a club, choose a family’s pathway or promise an outcome. Where a page gives a judgment, it says so.
Who keeps it
fastpitch.dev is kept by ORIGIN Softball LLC, a Georgia company that also runs a girls’ travel fastpitch club north of Atlanta. The company’s record is at origin.club/company/, and that is the one place this reference points to it. Where a list of clubs or programs appears here, ORIGIN is a row like any other. The people who keep these pages coach and raise players in this game, and they keep the reference for everyone in it.
The data
The Olympic softball record on this site, every game from 1996 to 2021, is published as open data under CC0, as games.json and games.csv, free to use with no permission asked.
Where it posts
New dispatches go out by email to anyone who asks for them on the dispatches page, publish to the RSS feed, and post on X at x.com/fastpitchdev.
