The map
Every name on the form
A travel team's registration form names the organizations it might play under in a season, and a Georgia team's names thirteen: seven national bodies and six operators closer to home. Here is each one by what it is, where it runs, the classes it assigns to teams, its national event and whose rulebook it plays, read from the body's own pages. No body publishes a tier of organizations, and this page does not rank them.
The national bodies come first, in the order the home page's directory lists them, then the operators a Georgia team meets closer to home. Each row carries the month its pages were read and a link to the body's own site. Where a body's site refused readers or a field could not be read, the row says so in plain words rather than guessing.
Seven that run nationally
Each writes or adopts a rulebook, registers teams, assigns them a class and runs a national event. Several run the same weekend in the same town, and a team may carry two or three of these registrations in one season.
- What it is
- The national governing body: it writes the rulebook, sanctions teams through its 62 state and metro associations, runs a championship pyramid, and runs the national-team pipeline, the High Performance Program.
- Where
- National, through local associations organized into ten regions.
- Classes
- Class A, B and C. GOLD is the top championship level for 16U and 18U, not a class.
- National event
- The GOLD National Championship at Devon Park, Oklahoma City (July 9 to 12, 2026), and Class A national championships by age.
- Plays under
- Its own: the USA Softball Official Rulebook (2026).
- What it is
- A multi-sport sanctioning body by its own by-laws: team registration, points and berths, rankings, and World Series events.
- Where
- National, from Melbourne, Florida, with state programs on its state sites.
- Classes
- USA Elite Select, A, B and C. A team may not place itself in C; its state director moves it down.
- National event
- World Series events, among them the Space Coast World Series in Viera, Florida (June 22 to 27, 2026).
- Plays under
- Its own fastpitch playing rules (17th edition, printed January 2024, as posted).
- What it is
- A sanctioning body for youth and adult fastpitch and slowpitch, founded in 1982 in Lexington, Kentucky, with its own rulebook, qualifiers and World Series.
- Where
- National, from Nicholasville, Kentucky; its 2026 World Series sat in Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana, Florida, California and Washington.
- Classes
- A, B, C and Open; C in 10U to 14U only.
- National event
- Six regional World Series in July 2026 (Owensboro, Kentucky; Midland, Michigan; Crown Point, Indiana; Clearwater, Florida; Clovis, California; Spokane, Washington).
- Plays under
- Its own: the 2026 NSA Fast Pitch Rule Book.
- What it is
- A girls-only sanction and circuit: teams register in a division and play National Qualifiers toward one national championship, beside showcases and all-American games.
- Where
- National; its 2026 fall qualifiers sat in California, Arizona, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, Nevada and Georgia, and its Nationals in Huntington Beach, California.
- Classes
- Premier, Platinum and Regional, chosen by the team when it sanctions.
- National event
- The PGF National Championships in Huntington Beach, California, late July into early August.

- Where
- National; Perfect Game is based in Sanford, Florida.
- Classes
- Player rankings rather than team classes; a C division appears in its rules addendum.
- National event
- Its tournaments and showcases, scheduled by event.
- Plays under
- NFHS rules with the PG Softball rules addendum, applied per event.
- What it is
- In its words "a national organizing body for travel softball" that is "neither a governing body nor an event company": league seasons through member leagues, a team rating and a national championship series.
- Where
- National, through nine regional member leagues: Atlantic Coast, Central, Heart of America, Northeast, Northwest, Pacific Coast, Rocky Mountain, Southeastern and Texas.
- Classes
- Super and Champions divisions; an Elo-style Alliance Team Rating; Tiers I to III and Open at the AFCS.
- National event
- The Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series (AFCS) in Indiana (listed for July 12 to 31, 2027).
- Plays under
- NFHS rules with modifications at its national events; a league weekend follows the host event's rules.
- What it is
- An event company, "not a sanctioning body" by its own statement: tournaments, World Series and Nationals, showcases and camps, from Fort Collins, Colorado.
- Where
- National; events in Colorado, Utah, California, Oregon, Texas, Missouri, Georgia, Kansas, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Nevada, Virginia, Arizona and Florida.

Six operators a Georgia team meets
Some are sanctions with their own rulebooks and ladders; some are tournament hosts that play under another body's rules. The row says which.

HPP, and what class means
HPP. On a form or a flyer, HPP is USA Softball's High Performance Program, its national-team identification pathway: regional identifiers, a national selection event and a top performers camp. It is a program a player enters, not an organization a team joins.
Class means two things. Inside an organization, it is the level that body assigns a team for its season and its championships, and every body names its own: USA Softball's A, B and C with GOLD as a championship level above A; USSSA's USA Elite Select, A, B and C; NSA's A, B, C and Open; PGF's Premier, Platinum and Regional; the Alliance's Super and Champions divisions and its rating; USFA's Open and C; Top Gun's A, AA, B and BB; GSA's ladder from A-Gold to B-Copper Minus; Titan's A, B, C and Rookie; Grand Slam's Rec through Open. Between organizations, "major" and "elite" are folk labels for circuits. No body publishes a tier of organizations, and this page does not rank them.
Notes and sources
Every row is read from the body's own pages on October 18 and 19, 2026: its about page, its rules or rulebook page, its classification page and its national event page, each named in the research behind this page. Five names on a form are short, and they are read here as the bodies a Georgia team plays under: Grand Slam Sports as Grand Slam Sports Tournaments of Inlet Beach, Florida; GSA as the Georgia Softball Authority of Hiram, Georgia; Titan as Titan Tournaments of Athens, Georgia; Top Flight as Top Flight Tournaments of Marietta, Georgia; Top Gun Sports as Top Gun-USA Sports of Concord, North Carolina. Two fields are thin and say so: Perfect Game's events and Titan's rule base. Classes, fees, geographies and event dates move every season, so the body's own site is the place to confirm the current detail.
